NCAA Pool

It's NCAA Tournament time!

Since the tournament starts over Spring Break for UNC, we wanted to give everyone a heads up about getting your entries in. Our pool will once again be a $5 entry fee per bracket, up to two brackets per person. Anyone is welcome to play, so tell your friends.

All of the money goes back to the top three contestants. The exact prize totals will be announced once we know how many people are involved.

Here's what you need to do if you want a part of the action (and you know you do):

1. BEFORE TIP ON TUESDAY, MARCH 15:
After selection Sunday, email / IM / call one of us with the following information:
- your email address (we will send out updates throughout the tournament).
- the number of brackets you wish to enter (1 or 2).
- your play-in game pick by tip off of the play-in game (which will be held Tuesday, March 15). If you don't get this pick in on time, you can still play because it will be the lowest point value game in the tournament.

2. BEFORE TIP ON THURSDAY, MARCH 17 (around noon est):
By tip-off of the first real first round game (play opens around noon on Thursday, March 17), you need to have done the following:

Submitted your bracket via any of the following means:
-Print a bracket, fill it out, and hand it to us
-Call one of us and tell us your game by game picks so that we can transcribe them onto paper
-Email one of us and give your region-by-region, round-by-round picks.
For instance: "In the Chicago regional, here are my first round winners: team, team, team, team, etc. Here are my second round winners: team, team, team, team, etc." Do so for all four regions and the final four so we can then fill out a complete racket for you.
-Mail us a copy of your bracket, which must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, March 16. If you choose this method, please give us a heads up that the letter is in the mail.
-Talk to us about something else.

We really aren't going to chase people around for payment this year. By tip on Thursday, you need to have given your $5 entry fee to one of us or made concrete arrangements (i.e., told us exactly when you will give us the entry fee) to do so. Checks are fine, made out to Cash or either of us.

I think that should just about do it. Here's how the games will be scored this year:

Play-in game: 1 pt
1st rd: 2/3 pts *
2nd rd: 4 pts
3rd rd: 8 pts
4th rd: 16 pts
5th rd: 28 pts
final game: 48 pts

*Each game is worth 2 points. If you correctly pick a 10-16 seed to win, you get 1 extra point, totalling 3 for that game.

Good luck to everyone (you'll need it), and we're looking forward to receiving your entries. Go Heels!
