Update on the dancing kid!

Aparently the internet is ruining his life :-/

Its a shame that something which brings me so much joy can be so sad...

"Mr. Brolsma, a pudgy guy from Saddle Brook, made a video of himself this fall performing a lip-synced version of "Dragostea Din Tei," a Romanian pop tune, which roughly translates to "Love From the Linden Trees." He not only mouthed the words, he bounced along in what he called the "Numa Numa Dance" - an arm-flailing, eyebrow-cocked performance executed without ever once leaving the chair.

In December, the Web site newgrounds.com, a clearinghouse for online videos and animation, placed a link to Mr. Brolsma on its home page and, soon, there was a river of attention. "Good Morning America" came calling and he appeared. CNN and VH1 broadcast the clip. Parodists tried their own Numa Numa dances online. By yesterday, the Brolsma rendition of "Love From the Linden Trees" had attracted nearly two million hits on the original Web site alone.

The video can be seen here."

More Grad School Rejection

Texas letter arrived Saturday. I can now say, without doubt, I will not be a Longhorn. When I wasn't too upset after rejections from MIT and Chicago, I decided that I would only really be upset over rejections from Michigan, Texas, Georgia Tech, and possibly Maryland.

Well, Texas came...and I'm honestly not that upset. Maybe my doubts about being prepared to sign up for a 5-6 year program are to be taken seriously. Maybe the schools see the reason in my applications. Or maybe I'm just not that great. :-p

Anyway, here's to finding a job/getting in somewhere!

It would have been fun to pull for Vince Young...

Props to the Lady Heels

Lady Tar Heels sweep dook and take the #1 seed in teh ACC tournament, ending dook's home win streak of 33 ACC games. Ivory Latta lead the team with 23 points. Erlana Larkins is a beast. In the couple Lady Tar Heel basketball games I've watched this year, she has dominated the post without fail. And finally, Nakita Bell played a great game, finishing 1 steal short of a triple-double.

If you get a chance, you should try to watch out women play this weekend in the ACC tournament.

dook sucks center - not to be

"Meet the Farkers
Delaware North Companies, owner and operator of Boston's FleetCenter, announced today that they have reached agreement with Drew Curtis on a naming rights deal to re-name the world-class sports and entertainment arena the 'Boston Garden'. After several less than appropriate name choices from Drew, the approved name selection was one we could all agree on. Drew, who lives in Kentucky, is the founder of a popular website which offers up offbeat news stories and posts to its community. The deal will both go into effect and expire on Monday, February 28, 2005."

From Fark:
"Fark buys Fleet Center naming rights. They wouldn't accept the Fark.com Duke Sucks Center so we named it Boston Garden instead."

Huge Week for the Heels

So I friend at work looked at this blog and said "well it's pretty obviously you like basketball." I was going to make an effort to write more non-basketball posts, but that just lead to my not posting. Ha. Anyway, on to basketball:

This week the Heels got the two of the most impressive wins of the season (up there with the Kentucky win) in my book. We went on the road against two teams, each of whom had show the capability to beat good teams, each of whom needed a big win to get them off the NCAA bubble. Now, add to that that we played both games without our leading scorer (Rashad). The State game was a rivalry game (especially for them). Maryland shoot 64.7% from 3. Both teams made surges, but both times we held on. State never lead. Maryland did only momentarily.

Going into the dook game, we were the only team in div I who has not played a single game where the two teams finished within five points of each other. We got that close game at dook, but with the wrong result. Maryland is also important because it gives us that close win.

Raymond Felton - Is playing his way into the title of best point guard in the ACC, and possibly the country. Leads this team, and as cliche and overused as it may be to say so, he truly is a coach on the floor. He has his turnovers down, and his assists stay up, and now he is scoring as we need him to.

Sean May - Trying to become the first player since Antawn Jamison to average a double-double. His play all around tonight (along with Ray's) got this win over Maryland.

Jawad Williams - Just when everyone had given up on Jawad, he catches fire. Watching him set the high screen for Ray and then drift away to the three-point line, catch the pass, and nail the open three is a pretty play, and a play we should be running regularly until someone shows they can stop it.

Jackie, David, Melvin, Marvin, Reyshawn, and Quentin - Picking it up without Rashad. We are playing good team defense. We are rebounding. And we are running an offence. Props to the team for two great wins this week.

Final Thought: According to game refs, Sean was not fouled against State above...
